Prescribing Information
Semaglutide injection is a glucagon-like peptide-1, or GLP-1, receptor agonist that may be prescribed when clinically appropriate as part of a provider-guided treatment plan. Depending on the medication dispensed, semaglutide may be an FDA-approved branded medication or a compounded medication prepared by a licensed pharmacy partner.
Compounded semaglutide is not FDA-approved as a finished drug product and is not the same as Wegovy® or Ozempic®.
Black Box Warning
Semaglutide-containing FDA-approved products include a boxed warning for risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. It is unknown whether semaglutide causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma, or MTC, in humans.
Do not use semaglutide if you or your family have a history of MTC or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2, or MEN 2.

Important Safety Information
Do not use semaglutide if you have a known allergy to semaglutide or any ingredient in the medication, have a personal or family history of MTC, or have MEN 2.
Tell your provider if you have or have had pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney disease, diabetic retinopathy, stomach-emptying problems, severe gastrointestinal disease, diabetes, depression, suicidal thoughts, or are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Semaglutide may increase the risk of pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, dehydration, kidney injury, low blood sugar when used with insulin or insulin secretagogues, allergic reactions, increased heart rate, and worsening diabetic retinopathy in certain patients.
Semaglutide may slow stomach emptying and may affect the absorption of oral medications.
Seek urgent medical help if you experience severe abdominal pain, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, symptoms of dehydration, severe vomiting, fainting, or signs of an allergic reaction.
